New Amazon Appstore for Android

Smartphones and tablets today are marvels of engineering hardware with the growing power of one generation to the next. But really, are the applications that make the device. And a new application - whether for fun, sharing of productivity, or location - can completely transform the way you use your mobile device. However, discovering that the new jewelry can be tricky and frustrating, with a seemingly endless stream of new titles and only a couple of pictures to get a feeling that the application can do for you.

Amazon wants app purchases for Android users easier with its new Amazon Appstore for Android, which officially opened its doors last week. There you will find a wide variety of best-selling titles - including Pac-Man, Doodle Jump Deluxe, Evernote, WeatherBug Elite, Zagat to Go, and Twitter - both for Android-powered mobile phones and tablets. But Amazon also provides access to Test Drive, a great way to experience applications before you shell out your credit card and a feature that Engadget says it "might be the most significant part" of the introduction of the Appstore.

Accessed through the browser on the desktop, Test Drive allows you to explore an Android application to discover the real experience of the functionality of the application or game, rather than relying on static images. But the best part is that the film is encapsulated in a Flash video - you control your application from your computer via a simulated Android phone using the mouse.

Canon SLR-like models

Although the new Canon pro SLR, the 18-megapixel EOS-1D X, was the most notable advanced camera recently announced, is SLR-like models that were actually raising the interest of enthusiasts camera. This corresponds to what we are seeing in the market: This relatively new category of advanced camera introduced in 2008-is the only type that is growing in sales. It is also expanding in numbers: We have increased the number of mirrorless camera system in our digital camera Ratings (available to subscribers) to nearly two dozen.

Although more expensive than the most basic models, SLR-likes are generally cheaper than a top-rated series of SLRs, ranging in price from $ 500 to $ 1,000, but nearly the same score in our Ratings. How SLRs, interchangeable lenses and they accept almost always come with a kit lens.

SLR-like models run the gamut in terms of size and weight. Air-like SLR from Pentax, the Pentax Q ($ 800, photo) weighs only 9 grams, while two of our recommended Sonys, the SLT-A55 ($ 750) and SLT-A33 ($ 600) are each 27 ounces -as heavy as an SLR.

Manufacturers are also packaging some of these new features for handheld cameras. Several, including the Olympus PEN E-P3 ($ 900), have well-designed, interactive touch-screen displays and the ability to capture images in 3D. Others, like most Sony SLR-like models can capture both 2D and 3D panoramas using a special Sweep Panorama mode. Many also include HDR (high dynamic range), which allows you to keep the details in highlights and shadow areas in difficult lighting situations capture a landscape at sunset, for example.

SLR-like models are not only the new additions to our camera Ratings: We've added some basic models, and remarkable. The top-rated Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ47 ($ 400) is an expensive superzoom (24x optical zoom), and maintains a good quality across the board, including video and wide-angle capabilities, ideal for landscapes and group portraits .

Those looking for a portable model that fits easily into a pocket should consider another model recommended the 16-megapixel Nikon Coolpix S100 subcompact ($ 300). It has a lens with 5x optical zoom that does not telescope out when you turn on the camera. It also has a good quality, very large display of 3.4 inches and takes videos better than many in its class.

Make sure to check out our basic assessments of the camera and advanced camera Ratings before buying your favorite photographers a gift this Christmas.

Porsche’s Design Tower Project

I think we all know that parking in big cities is a problem that will get progressively worse. If we continue to pack people in cities that have less than a square mile, there's only so much space where one can park your car. As someone who had trouble parking in the big city, there must be a solution.

In the movie I, Robot, a future where the car park is shown in front of a huge building, and a giant robotic arm grabs the car to store them away like bees in a hive. This Tower of special design, Porsche takes this idea, but stores the cars horizontally.

Imagine being able to drive to his condominium multi-level, and then put your car in a robotic elevator. You will be taken both vertically and horizontally to the designated location, which is very close to your door.

By the way, this technology already exists. That image you see is not a mock-up of Porsche Design Tower, but the Volkswagen Autostadt, a 20-story robotic parking garage in Wolfsberg, Germany.

This condominium will cost 560 million dollars to build, and has 57 floors. There will be 132 units, and some have up to four spaces per unit. I imagine I would have to be super rich to live in the car 4-1, and I wonder if you have a Porsche is a requirement for a tenant in this condominium.
